Down-N-Dirty Outdoors Haint Gobble Call
Gobbler shakers and the tactic of gobbling to longbeards have been around for years, but still most hunters use them more for pulling a shock gobble from a longbeard rather than working him to the actual call. The boys at Down-N-Dirty Outdoors (DND) are planning on knocking that approach on its butt after spending last spring testing their new call, the Haint, which is a hand-held gobble call.
“We field tested the Haint call this spring and the results were absolutely incredible,” says Mark Coin, DND president. “This call will make even the wariest of old gobblers give their location away.”
They also found that it will bring gobblers in. The DND Haint gobble call absolutely reproduces a loud, resounding gobble of a dominant longbeard. With little practice, a turkey hunter can use the Haint to produce the identical sound, pressure, volume and force that naturally resonates from an old tom, and it’s that sound that brings the gobbler in with ferocity to defend a challenge to his territory.
The mouth blown call operates a lot like an owl hooter, but in demonstrations on their YouTube video sounds pretty darn good.
DND is taking pre-orders for the call now to begin shipping the first of the year, but if you visit their site at downndirtyoutdoors.com and text DND to 90210, you will be entered to win one of three Haints before they are even in stores. Winners will be drawn Dec. 10.
Here at Tactical Turkey Hunter, we’re expecting to have one in our hands as soon as they are available and you can bet we’ll report if this call looks to live up to its hype. The guys at DND have been kicking out some awesome calls of late so I’m betting it will.
Stay tuned and hope you had a great Turkey Day!
